our ethos

culture, attitude and outlook

the way we approach our business

focus on what you do best…

Stylus Design can act as an extension of your business – taking the workload off you so you can focus on your core enterprise.

We fit in with the way you prefer to work, learn about your business so we can offer useful insights, comply with your house requirements, and monitor and manage your design projects.

The better we understand your business, the more effective we can be.

Jigsaw piece completes the puzzle

communication skills

Beyond the ordinary.

We understand how to make publications that clearly communicate concepts, processes and ideas – both written and visual – to your customers.

Effective communication brings business benefits. From a simple form, or organisational chart, to a complex process or concept, we can add value and usability to every project.

Head full of cogs and ideas

quality control

We believe in quality.

And that's achieved by attention to detail, knowing your style and through strong studio practices. We can also edit your copy to add a final polish. Your project is cross-checked by another designer at progressive stages and before being sent to press, output or upload.

Want print management? Stylus will check hard and soft proofing at no charge – we want you to get a great product!

Quality control tools - Pantone swatches, loupe and proofs

…I have had the opportunity to work in conjunction with Stylus Design on numerous projects for various clients. I have always found their professionalism and attention to detail to be of the highest standard. The standard of electronic artwork produced by Stylus is excellent, the production protocols used ensure that possible problems are always kept to a minimum. …these standards enable a high degree of control over the quality of the end product…

… I have always admired the high level of integrity and work ethic [displayed] in my dealings with them.

professional ethics

Perhaps it's karma?

Treating people with respect and integrity in an increasingly impersonal world is important.

We try to be open, honest and fair with everyone – clients, colleagues and employees.

Values: respect, ethics, honesty and integrity

covering the bases

Stylus has a strong record of business practice across 30 years.

Fair pricing, accurate estimation, timeliness, excellent project management skills and reporting, management of your digital assets with archiving plus internal and cloud back-ups, as well as insurances that meet government requirements – that's just a start.

Add our network of experienced professionals in allied industries and you've got great support.

Strong business practice record

working green

Environmental responsibility.

Green inputs

If you have a particular environmental requirement we have a range of solutions and suppliers on hand (e.g. printers who use soy-based inks or hold ‘Green Stamp’ credentials). Please ask us!

Whenever possible, we choose paper that has a high recycled content, minimal bleaching – and is Australian made.

We use Ricoh laserprinters who hold CarboNZeroCERT TM certification and ensure greenhouse gas emissions from their supplied devices are offset with Kyoto grade carbon credits.

All electronic equipment is reviewed for power consumption before purchase and workstations are equipped with cut-off switches to limit the use of stand-by power. Power-sensible LED lighting is used wherever possible.

A rainwater collection tank supplements the supply for the grounds.

Concern for the environment is embeded in our business

Solar power

Stylus Design’s premises has utilised solar hot water heating for over 33 years and makes extensive use of passive climate control measures.

In 2009 we installed a solar PV bank on the studio roof which generates power equivalent to or above the studio’s requirements.

Paper and food waste is composted on the premises and re-used as mulch on the garden areas. All glass, tin, steel and suitable plastics are recycled through the council collection scheme.

Toner cartridges from our printers are recycled through a ‘back‑to‑supplier’ scheme.

Redundant computing and electronic equipment is given away for re-use, returned by ‘end-of-life’ recycling programs or handed in to supervised e-waste collections.

Recycling where possible

The principals haven’t driven to and from work for over 30 years so our vehicle use, petrol consumption and emissions have been extremely light.

Staff are supported in their use of public transport.
